Yet another “post death” Back To The Future The Ride performance coming up!! Check out this TREASURE!

Teaser of just a little bit of the art we’re making for the Deathbomb Arc showcase happening at Sync Space a week from today. The opening event, on Fri April 26th includes performances from clipping., Yola Fatoush, I.E., and Back To The Future The Ride. The art show will be up though for a week following! This includes both static and video art from Tight Artists Net Gang, Isaac Hicks, and Jamopi (all are people who make tons of work for the Deathbomb website, tumblr, and digital singles club).

At long last, the Back To The Future The Ride masterpiece ‘Pronoia Sunsets’ is now available online! And for free at that!

Yesterday we made the Back To The Future The Ride album ‘Mtv’ available as a free download to everyone, but today we’ve added something even more significant to the band’s online presence.

In 2010, the label Accidie Records released what is hands down the shinning star of the Back To The Future The Ride catalog. A cassette called ‘Pronoia Sunsets’ which yeilded two music videos, “Zero Ghost” and “Black Bones Inside the Sun, Pink Bones Encircling the Sun”. But shortly after this cassette was released, the master digital files were misplaced and the only way to hear the rest of the album has been by owning the tape.

Yesterday, at long last these digital masters were tracked down. So, for the first time ever, I am very excited to share with everyone a free digital copy of this fantastic album. The download includes copies of both the music videos from the album as well! Enjoy everyone!

Just a heads up that the Back To The Future The Ride album ‘Mtv’ is now available to download for free from our bandcamp page. This album, loosely themed around 80s action movies and boyhood interests in general, was originally released as a cassette on Deathbomb Arc. For those unfamiliar with the act, Back To The Future The Ride is retired solo project from Brian Miller (hey, that’s me!) of Foot Village. All music for the project performed on a photocell triggered synth and single reverb unit. Minimal in instrumentation, but expansive in sound. The act eventually evolved into True Neutral, which will be releasing more music this year.

‘Chatroom Enhancing Drugs’ collects all the Back To The Future The Ride tracks from comps and singles, plus a couple previously unreleased songs. This was also the last release under this name before transforming into True Neutral. Enjoy!!!

ANNOUNCING TWO NEW RELEASES ON DEATHBOMB ARC!

These both have been a long time in the planning, I am very excited to finally make it official. The first is a triple LP anthology of my favorite band of all time, rRope. Active in the mid 90s and based in San Francisco, rRope are a noise rock act unlike any I’ve ever heard. Harder than My Bloody Valentine, more experimental and dreamy than your average Touch n’ Go band, they were an incredible force in the 90s California music scene. Their music has been primarily unavailable for nearly 2 decades. We’ve collected all their albums, 7”s and comp tracks and remastered everything. The triple LP comes out in early May, but pre-orders get an immediate digital download of the entire album.

The second is our first exploration into releasing an audiobook. ‘Broken Piano For President’ is the literal books on tape version of Patrick Wensink’s 3rd novel. Read by the author and with a score by True Neutral (member of Foot Village). The cassette has the readings with score on side a, and just the music on side b, plus a bonus theme song called “Call on the Herd”. Guest musicians on the release are Brian Chippendale (Lightning Bolt/Black Pus), Ezra Buchla (ex-Gowns, EMA contributor), and Christina Gubala. Cassettes ship in early April and come with a download code. We also have limited copies of a deluxe edition that comes with a signed copy of the novel.

In 2012 Deathbomb Arc heads into new territory, even for us. We are teaming up with author Patrick Wensink to release the books on tape version of his forthcoming 3rd novel Broken Piano for President (published by Lazy Fascist Press). The cassette will feature a soundtrack composed by Brian Miller (hey, that’s me!) of Foot Village / Back To The Future The Ride. We will also be offering a deluxe edition including a copy of both the novel and cassette.

Broken Piano for President is a ludicrous world where the lives of noise musicians, burger moguls, astronauts, and meth addicts get caught in one baffling knot. Stay tuned for more.

Just noticed that the ‘Pronoia Sunsets’ cassette on Accidie is now sold out. This means the only Back To The Future The Ride cassette still in print is ‘Neutino Based Lifeforms”. Get one while you can from the label that put it out, 5nakefork. It is unlikely that any of the 4 BTTFtr cassettes will be back in print… ever?

“Brian Miller is a forever busy kinda dude, and he keeps it that way. For many being a part of the drum & vocal legends Foot Village would be enough, but Brian also toils away on other things like his record label, Deathbomb Arc, and various side projects such as Back To The Future The Ride. It’s been a while since we last heard from BTTFtr, but yesterday Miller released Chatroom Enhancing Drugs. The album is a collection of singles and compilation tracks, as well as 3 previously unreleased tracks (one of which is a remix from tik///tik aliasSatisHouse of entire BTTFtr album Neutrino Based Lifeforms.) Back To The Future The Ride - Gay Wish

This is the last “major” release from Back To The Future The Ride, besides a b-sides compilation—Brian Miller, the guy behind BTTFTR, is starting a new project called True Neutral, so all is not lost—and he’s got the audacity to release something so short and so spectacular. It’s less than twenty minutes long and, for my money, the best bit of warm ambient noise released this year. Back again is the massive guitar noise, with some new added elements like vocals (both sampled snippets and auto-tuned dada-poems). It also includes a scarce cover of classic surf song Blue Hawaii. The elements of the original song are, at best, barely there and, at worst, entirely nonexistent. But the escapism is palpable—think Terry Gilliam’s Brazil—beneath the dust and mechanical grays, color and light are shining through.

I guess I should have seen this coming. Ending a journey that bends time itself is not an easy one to get off of. So, despite the recent “end” of Back To The Future The Ride, here is another album called ‘Chatroom Enhancing Drugs’. Feel like you’ve heard some of these songs before? Thats just the time bending for you. Or as the music industry would call it, a rarities compilation. As probably most of you have heard by now, the music blog Altered Zones has called it a day. For the brief span of time it existed, this site did a great job of bringing a lot of DIY/experimental music to the attention of a lot of folks (all Pitchfork politics / chillwave baggage aside).

So, thank you to everyone at Altered Zones for the experiment in bringing bloggers together. The future can only be better… right?
